Wow – The first month of 2014 has already come and gone! I for one am happy to have the last two weeks in particular behind me and am ready for a fresher, fresh start (As an aside, I also really love to read my [new] monthly horoscope on the 1st – Anyone else!?!). One of the things I have been working on recently is building this board on Pinterest. I started making vision boards old-school style with magazine cut-outs several years ago, and while some may think it’s a hokey thing to do, I find it to be a really helpful and insightful practice. I am a very ‘visual person’ by nature (I think you may have figured this out by now!), so I appreciate having something laid-out in front of me to focus on, and enjoy the ritual of mindlessly clipping images that instinctively appeal to me, while sipping on a glass of wine (I like to keep things festive!). Although nothing can replace that experience, Pinterest is a pretty efficient – and a more wide-ranging – medium to accomplish something similar, which is why I decided to give-it-a-go this year.
On my board you’ll find quotes that are resonating with me right now, pictures of places I want to visit (Montana – It’d be pretty dreamy to be left to my own devices with nothing but my camera and wide-open spaces, and Paris – I have only ever passed through and would like to savor the city more, while practicing my French), a few frivolous items just because, and ultimately pictures and words that emulate the kind of life – and more importantly the feeling of the life – that I am actively creating. In addition to pinning, I have also been doing some housekeeping around the blog; updating my older recipes to a printer-friendly format (I am almost done.), hooking my Shop page up with some new springier, ‘love’-lier items (I’ll be wearing the First Kiss Dress for Valentine’s Day!), and shooting a ton of fun new content (Hint: Next week is all about CHOCOLATE!). I hope you have a great and inspired Saturday!
PS – One of the things I am consistently working on is in learning how to take the best photos I possibly can. If you’re in the same boat, my friend Joy at Joyfully Green is running an e-course called “How to Take Better Photos of Nature and the World Around You”, in March. It’s sure to be wonderful, so I recommend hopping on it!
